My name is Patricia C. Coleman. I have lived in the Indiana woodlands for more than twenty years. Born in Washington, D.C., I am a mother of three, a painter, ceremonial object maker, storyteller, maskmaker, occasional figure maker, educator, writer, audio describer for the visually impaired, web site builder and peace worker. I have been a featured poet, storyteller, workshop coordinator and presenter in schools and libraries; on radio programs and at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the John Waldron Arts Center, the Stone Song and Lotus World Music Festivals and the Iowa State Women's Center. I have had the opportunity to study poetry writing with Cathy Bowman, to workshop with Pat Mora at Split Rock on Writing Family Stories and have had the blessing of participating in Robert Bly's Confrence of the Great Mother and the New Father with a wide listing of amazing inspirational poets and truth speakers. I am a member of the 5 Women Poets Writing Workshop and the Bloomington Storytellers Guild and currently a Worship Associate at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington and also a Chalice Circle Facilitator.

Currently my time is spent developing new art works and writing, focusing my energies on being a parent, planning and facilitating workshops; and keeping the dream of the Sarah Leah Center for Peace and Wellness Arts alive as I search for the others who will share this dream and the accompaning work. As a peacemaker, I look forward to growing numbers believing that peace is possible. I look forward to laying off some of my activities, kissing them good by with lots of love and dancing to their memories.

I am founder of the Green Dove Network, Inc., a peace resource including Poets and Artist from around the globe . It also includes resources to assist in living a more sustainable lifestyle and information on water in the Bloomington community and the world at large. Green Dove Network, Inc. is a non-profit and is the parent organization to Local Food and the Indiana Holistic Health Network and is a 501C3 under the umbrella organization of the Center for Sustainable Living.

I am founder and now, one of the orgainzers/ sponsors of "Simply Healthy: Creating Sustainable Communities" Simply Living Fair and Wellness Expo

I am a Board Member for the Center for Sustainable Living.

-You can read or listen to some of my poems on-line at Matrix Mag, in the Green Dove Peace Poetry Gallery, and at Poets Against the War. I am in the anthology, "A Linen Weave of Local Poets" compiled and edited by Jenny Kander, on the CD "DIAMOND CELEBRATION, 30 years of 5 Women Poets" and in have a limited edition chapbook "Light Hand", currently still available.

"Beautiful Biscuits" Cookbook, updated to include biscuit poems and memories. Will be more delicious than the original edition. Expect the 2010 edition to nourish your body and your soul!

A member of:

The Bloomington Storytellers Guild. Throughout the year, the Guild is involved in a variety of storytelling venues. In October there is the Festival of Ghost Stories, February, Wintertelling, a night of stories for adult listeners. The programs always feature an excellent variety of voices as the tellers present stories that will stay with you long after the night is past. Come back to see what is up for this year!

If you are interested in exploring the art of storytelling or want to find out how you can have a storyteller at an event, contact the Guild through our website or speak to someone at a storytelling event.

All of my work, whether it is visual, literary or verbal, is a journey to the heart. It is about exploring the intangible connections I see within all being. It is about the solid place I believe exists and continues through time flowing through our threads of love. I seek to recognize and catch some of these threads in my work. I seek it in the examining of ordinary sights, dreams and meditations and in my perceptions of space and time. I allow these influences to help form seeds which I develop using my intuition. Some images and ideas take years to come into life. My goal has always been to breathe out peaceful images, desiring to add to the offerings of sustaining and uplifiting vibrations. I offer my heart song to those who experience my work.

The ancients, through their ceremonial art making in Indigenous America, Africa, Australia, Early Europe, and Asian cultures, have influenced me greatly with their attention to natural and sustaining relationships among all things. My work is in public and private collections in the U.S., Mexico, Germany, Japan, England, Finland and other locations. If you would like a complete biography or information about current projects, send a request.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.

Self I-Dentity through Ho'oponopono® (SITH®)
Ho'oponopono is an updated Hawaiian problem solving process to acknowledge, release and transmute memories experienced as problems. SITH® was developed by Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, a Hawaiian Kahuna Lapa'au. She was recognized by the State of Hawaii as a Living Treasure in 1983. My teacher, Ihaleakala Hew Len, PhD studied and worked with Morrnah.

Ho'oponopono asks that we acknowledge our connectedness and in so doing, take complete responsibility and let go. When we release the errors we experience we create space for what is right and perfect unfold within our lives.
