My name is Patricia
C. Coleman. I have lived in the Indiana woodlands for more than
twenty years. Born in Washington, D.C., I am a mother of three,
a painter, ceremonial object maker, storyteller, maskmaker, occasional
figure maker, educator, writer, audio describer for the visually
impaired, web site builder and peace worker. I have been a featured
poet, storyteller, workshop coordinator and presenter in schools
and libraries; on radio programs and at the Children's Museum
of Indianapolis, the John Waldron Arts Center, the Stone Song

I have had the opportunity to study poetry writing with Cathy
Bowman, to workshop with Pat Mora at Split Rock on Writing Family
Stories and have had the blessing of participating in Robert Bly's
Confrence of the Great Mother and the New Father with a wide listing
of amazing inspirational poets and truth speakers. I am a member

time is spent developing new art works and writing, focusing my
energies on being a parent and organizing workshops and keeping
the dream of the Sarah Leah Center for Peace and Wellness Arts
alive until I find others who will share the dream and the work.
I also continue as a peacemaker. I look forward to opportunities
to organizing multi-media exhibitions that feature a variety of
art, poetry, music, song and dance. If you would like to be notified
about upcoming exhibits or presentations, drop me a line and I
will add you to my mailing list.

All of my work,
whether it is visual, literary or verbal, is a journey to the
heart. It is about exploring the intangible connections I see
within all being. It is about the solid place I believe exists
and continues through time flowing through our threads of love.
I seek to recognize and catch some of these threads in my work.
I seek it in the examining of ordinary sights, dreams and meditations
and in my perceptions of space and time. I allow these influences
to help form seeds which I develop using my intuition. Some images
and ideas take years to come into life. My goal has always been
to breathe out peaceful images, desiring to add to the offerings
of sustaining and uplifiting vibrations. I offer my heart song
to those who experience my work.
The ancients,
through their ceremonial art making in Indigenous America, Africa,
Australia, Early Europe, and Asian cultures, have influenced me
greatly with their attention to natural and sustaining relationships
among all things. My work is in public and private collections
in the U.S., Mexico, Germany, Japan, England, Finland and other
locations. If you would like a complete biography or information
about current projects, send
a request.
Thank you for
taking the time to visit my site.
