Sara Leah Center

The Sara Leah Center will be a living dream space to visit for respite from your overly busy lives. We imagine small beginnings with a retreat building space large enough to facilitate a variety of group activities and with a practice space that can accomodate, Reiki, massage and other wellness sessions. Once established we plan to add on rustic style retreat living spaces so that visitors may come for a night or a week to write, create art or just to have quiet time to hold life in perspective.

We are seeking partners who see the value in having a wellness center near Bloomington, and who would enjoy the benefits of using the Sara Leah and can appreciate the benefits we would be to the larger community. We envision our dream home within thirty minutes of Bloomington, Indiana and having wooded acreage with some open areas with water or a suitable pond area. The grounds will be developed using edible and sustainable permacultural design elements with green building projects and renewable energy sources as key design elements. We envision our building and design projects occuring through community workshop opportunities.

Once established, Sara Leah will provide shelter for retreat staff, visitors and workshop participants with programing space for stress reduction programming through various arts media, movements such as Reiki Dance, Yoga and Pilates, to writing, bookmaking, quilting arts, and much more.

We live in a fast paced world with tension, violence, and terror coming from many directions. Too many people are stressed out, often to the point where they need medical assistance. We are holding too much stress inside. Many individuals and business are turning to alternative wellness support and spiritual healing services including exploration of creative arts to assist in stress reduction and to acquire personal stress reduction tools.

The American Institute of Stress estimates that 75-95% of visits to doctors can be attributed to bodily stress. Continual stress blocks the body's natural ability to repair, regenerate and protect itself, and the effects of unresolved stress range from minor aches to major health concerns such as heart disease, digestive disorders, depression, respiratory and skin problems.

At the Sara Leah Center our mission is to develop a sustainable retreat space where the local and extended community can come to explore and relax through participation in planned activities or a quiet woodland walk around the meditation circle.

Our goal is to assist you in reducing your stress through participation in healthy lifestyle workshops, classes, retreats and conferences promoting self-discovery, stress reduction, relaxation and self-renewal through explorations in creative arts, spiritual workshops, writing, nature, bodywork and energy healing, green building and other wellness and sustainable living workshops throughout the year.

The Sara Leah Center will be develop our home in Bloomington, Indiana, in Monroe County.

The Sara Leah Center intends to network with a wide variety of local and community organizations and individual practitioners to provide collaborative programs for the business community, organizations and individuals with common goals for supporting health and wellness.

When the Sara Leah Center offers meals, they will be primarily vegetarian and vegan, prepared bylocal businesses offering locally and when possible, organically raised foods. On the occassion that meats will be served, they will be from a local organic producer.

The Sara Leah Center programing will recognize that personal resources vary amoung our communities members, therefore, scholarship programs and work study opportunities will be available for most of our programs and services.

If the idea and goals of the Sara Leah Center resonates with your heart and your life goals, we want you and look forward to hear from you!
